goldBach

goldBach studied at the Royal College of Music and Royal College of Art. He knew and has been much influenced by John Cage.

The name goldBach references 18th-century mathematician Christian Goldbach, Johann Sebastian Bach, the Goldberg Variations and decibels.

goldBach compositions always stem from one note (sometimes heard as a drone, or, more developed, a trill) and are created using contrapuntal techniques of the Renaissance period, and prime numbers. Decibels are a measure of the intensity of sound and are manipulated to bring out details of the counterpoint. Asymmetrical “cells” are cultivated and used in canon. It is a very organic process, similar to creating mesostics.
