Kate Renwick

“Uninspired / recognise / the places that I / cannot go”

Kate Renwick has been working with sound since forever. 1991, that is – when she began writing songs and using her voice in ambient student film soundtracks.

Her MA dissertation was written in song form and ended up being played on violin by her co-conspirator in Desire Lines, Maria Marzaioli.

In 2009 she turned the back room of Kingston-upon-Thames’s Toilet Gallery into an instrument, and in 2010 she did a show based on building a theremin from scratch.

In 2013 she invented a newspaper that now circulates 10,000 copies fortnightly, and since 2014 she has been in the process of building an art school.
